Year 2 Spring Blog

Wednesday, 31 January 2018

In Year 2 we are working really hard and getting used to the pace and expectations of Year 2.  We enjoyed learning about the island of Madagascar in the 1st term and writing creatively using the film as our inspiration.  We all enjoyed finding out about The Great Fire of London and wrote some wonderful diary entries. Our puppet investigations and design work were a huge success.

This half term, we have enjoyed planning and participating in investigations finding about the properties of Materials in Science.  We have learned so much about Florence Nightingale and her work in the Crimean War. Next half term we will be learning about Castles and how people lived in the past. We are looking forward to our trip to Warwick Castle in March. Our Design and Technology project will also be based on castles with moving parts.

Please continue to read regularly at home (5 times a week would be amazing), and practise your weekly spellings and sentences. Please carry on working hard with your homework and knowing your 2’s 5’s and 10’s timetables would help in Numeracy as would knowing your number bonds.

Keep up the good work…..
