Year 4 have started the new year with a tropical theme “Africa” and are working towards writing our own Tinga Tale, and investigating African art using patterns, printing and paste resist.
Later this term we are looking forward to our exciting trip to Land Rover where we will deepen our knowledge in programming robots and various other scientific subjects. The children will be watching robots assemble cars from start to finish on the production line.
During our literacy lessons, we will be studying the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Here we will be looking at different types of writing and linking this to our DT topic. A robot based homework project will be sent out later this term.
Mr Scott has continued his sessions of playing the djembe, glockenspiels and drum pads and there will be a concert for parents to enjoy in the Summer term.
Please endeavour to read at least 5 times per week (parent signatures each night count as one step up the reading ladder and count towards our reading percentage each week.) Continue to read a range of genres and fill out your reading journals to earn your Bronze, Silver and Gold Reading Bands. See the grid in your child’s reading diary for more information.
Please remember, to keep practising spellings and times tables.
