Reception Summer Blog

Wednesday, 24 April 2019

Last term the children were thrilled when we welcomed 3 new arrivals in Reception, our baby chicks! We were lucky enough to see one of the eggs hatch live during the school day. All three chicks are now living happily at Miss Harper’s friend’s house.

We were also very impressed with our Reading Ladder scores over the Easter holidays. Keep it up! We encourage you to read with your child as often as possible. As always, parental support at home is invaluable!

This half-term, our topic will be ‘Our Wonderful World’. We will start by finding out about our local environment by visiting Amington Recreational Grounds for a picnic. We will then learn about the UK, and then find out about different countries and cultures around the world. We will focus on the differences and similarities between ourselves and others.

If you have any pictures of the children on holiday in different countries, or any props or artefacts from around the world which you feel maybe of interest to the children for this topic, please come and see us.

Later in the summer term we are looking forward to our Reception trip to Twycross Zoo on Friday 7th June, which is shortly followed by Mr Patel’s children’s class assembly on Friday 14th June.
