Year 2 has been working super hard this term and parents should be very proud of their children. We have to complete all our SATs and Teacher Assessments during the month of May and so far the children have remained focused and tried their best.
In other news we have learning about countries around the world, and have virtually visited all the continents with Buddy Bee. We found out lots of information ranging from the animals of the Arctic to the foods of France.
In Science we have been learning about plants and what are the best conditions for growth. We will also complete a range of investigations in groups, on everyday materials to test their properties and work as a team.
In Literacy we have particularly enjoyed our work on dragons and the children have written fantastic information reports about their own dragon. They also enjoyed our class reading book ‘Plop the owl who was afraid of the dark’ and produced some good work alongside it.
In Numeracy we are continuing to work hard on developing our arithmetic skills and applying them in problem solving contexts. Please continue to practise instant recall of addition and subtraction facts within 20 and the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
We are very excited about our upcoming trip to Kingsbury Water Park in June. Fingers crossed for the weather so we can enjoy the great outdoors, pond dipping, playing on the park and building dens.
Please continue to read regularly at home and get your child to answer questions about what they have read. Remember to try to get up to 5 on the ladder every week.
Keep up the hard work.
