Well we have done a term already. The children have worked really hard and we are beginning to do SAT questions and papers with them as early preparation and to help us identify any gaps or areas which need further work.
We have covered lots of topics in Maths including money, something which lots of children find a real challenge. It would be very useful to empty your purses every now and again to let them sort and count the coins. We will be looking at telling the time this half term which is also tricky so any help there would be very helpful.
Literacy has covered a lot of genres and has worked well alongside our history topic of the Great Fire. We have written diaries, recounted the fire among other things. We are excited to start our new topic of Castles and hope to visit a real Castle during Spring.
Year 2 have really enjoyed the work on the Great Fire of London and being history detectives finding out answers to lots of questions about the fire and how we know about it today.
In Science we have been finding out about the basic needs of animals for survival. We have also looked at habitats and why certain animals are adapted for living there. We also learnt about the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of different types of food, and hygiene.
