Well we are into our Spring term. The children have worked very hard at home and have adjusted remarkably to remote learning. Your continued home learning, has been celebrated with lots of you displaying your work on our Facebook group page and children have been taking part in the Virtual Three Peak Challenge.
Year 2 have really enjoyed their Literacy work on Traditional Tales and have created their own Fairy Tale stories with detailed settings and exciting similes. Children have been developing their skills in Explanation writing to describe how birds fly using subordinating conjunctions and cause and effect. Perhaps you have been observing birds closely when out walking during your day.
We have covered lots of topics in Maths including Place Value, Addition and Subtraction with money, something which lots of children find a real challenge. Our support materials and White Rose videos have helped ease supporting at home.
Geography has covered close research into the country of Brazil and we have had a fantastic time learning about its geographical features. We have compared Brazil to our own location and many of us would love to visit Brazil one day. It is such a vibrant and beautiful place.
In Science, we have been finding out about how and why materials change. We have also looked at differences between raw and synthetic materials. We also investigated which materials are the stretchiest and most absorbent.
