Year 3 had a slightly different but very enjoyable Spring term, working hard on the DT based topic Wonka’s Wonderful Wishes. The children experimented with different combinations of ingredients to create their own tasty, healthy snack for Wonka, with varying degrees of success! They then made packaging for their snack. We would like to thank you for your fantastic support during the home learning period, we understand it was not easy for many but your efforts were really appreciated by the year 3 staff.
This term we are continuing to learn about the Rainforests. We have all enjoyed learning where the Rainforests are located in the world and what they are like. The children especially like the animals that we are learning about, that live in the different layers. The projects the children have created at home have been fantastic! We are aiming to share them all soon, with the rest of the class. We have no doubt that they will really enjoy talking to the class, about what they did and what they have learnt by doing them. Thank you, to mums and dads too, for supporting your child with this project!
The final topic we will study this year will be our local area, including learning mapping and researching skills, as well as undertaking some fieldwork to find out more about the place in which we are located.
Both classes have also continued to wow everyone with their new-found violin playing skills, with our violin lessons taking place every Tuesday.
Please continue to help your child, complete their learning at home (spelling, reading and times tables practise), it is really appreciated and beneficial to your child. Whilst we fully understand busy family life, everything you do with your child is of benefit to them. We would hope as a minimum, each child is reading with an adult at least 5 times a week, practising their spellings and learning their times tables.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs S Worrall, Mrs S Shingleton and Mr D Herrmann.
