Year 3 have had an enjoyable Spring term, working hard on our Maya topic and enjoying our trip to Cadbury World. We are continuing the DT based topic of Wonka’s Wonderful Wishes. The children took part in taste tests and have planned to make their own tasty snacks. Next we will design and make our own packaging for their snack and bake our healthy cereal bars.
We would also like to thank you for your fantastic support during the term and we are so pleased with our increased weekly percentage on the reading ladder!
This term we are beginning to learn about the Rainforests. We will all learn where the Rainforests are located in the world and what they are like. Along with learning about the geography of the rainforests we will find out all about the animals, who live in the different layers.
We would also love to introduce a new homework project based on Rainforests. The projects the children will bring in will be shown to the classes and we are in no doubt that they will be great! (letter to follow).Thank you, in advance, to mums and dads, for supporting your child with this project!
The final topic we will study this year will be our local area, including learning mapping and researching skills, as well as undertaking some fieldwork to find out more about the place in which we are located.
Both classes have also continued to wow everyone with their new-found violin playing skills, with our violin lessons taking place every Tuesday. We are very much hoping to see you at our music concert on June 17th at the Coton Centre.
Please continue to help your child, complete their learning at home (spelling, reading and times tables practise), it is really appreciated and beneficial to your child. Whilst we fully understand busy family life, everything you do with your child is of benefit to them. We would hope as a minimum, each child is reading with an adult at least 5 times a week, practising their spellings and learning their times tables.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Lamb, Mrs S Worrall and Mrs S Shingleton.
