Welcome back!
We are looking forward to the term ahead. We are starting our Year 2 learning by getting to know our local area in Geography. Then, we will be looking at the city of London and comparing it to Nairobi in Kenya.
We are starting with Place Value in Maths and revisiting the idea of tens and ones. We are going to continue the Maths program called ‘Mastering Number’ to help us become efficient in our addition of numbers to 20. The children need to keep working on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to help them when we start our times tables tests in January.
In Science, we are finding out about ‘Living Things and their Habitats.’ This will be followed by the topic ‘Materials’.
We will also be celebrating the work of Roald Dahl during the week beginning 15th Sept. We will be studying one of his texts, enjoying listening to a variety of his stories and studying some of the characters. We look forward to seeing the children’s costumes as part of this exciting week!
Our PE lessons will be every Monday so please make sure your child has their kit in school (warm outdoor kit will be needed for colder weather). Spelling tests will be every Wednesday (first test on 10th September).
We would appreciate milk (25p a day) and toast (20p a day) money to be brought into school on a Monday for the week ahead. Please ensure all clothes need to be named to help us return your child’s belongings when they get lost.
