Year 5 have settled back into work well and we are already improving our focus and stamina in our work. This term, we will be learning about ‘Earth and Space’.
We will be learning all about the Earth and other planets, how the moon appears to change shape and how day and night occurs. We are excited that part of our studies will involve a trip to the National Space Centre in November to enhance our understanding. In English, we will look at the features of a good piece of Year 5 writing and we will be writing our own space story, hopefully including these. We will also look at how to create interesting characters during Roald Dahl week.
Please continue practising your times tables on TTRockstars (Mrs Hopkins and Miss Ahern both want to win Battle of the Bands!!) and keep learning your weekly spellings. In reading, we hope everyone will achieve their Bronze reading band by Christmas. The reading grids, showing which books to read, are in the back of your child’s reading diary and children can borrow books from the classroom or the school library if they wish. Children can ask us for help with this if they need it.
As always, thank you to all parents and carers for your continuing support. Please contact us on Class Dojo if you have any queries or if you wish to share anything with us.
