Year 4 have started the new year with a tropical theme “Africa” and are working towards writing our own Tinga Tale, and investigating use of colour and shape in African art.
Later this term we are looking forward our topic on robots. We have some new robots that we are going to be learning to program.
During our literacy lessons, we will be studying the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Here we will be looking at different types of writing and linking this to our DT topic. A robot based homework project will be sent out later this term.
Mr Scott will continue his sessions of playing the djembe, glockenspiels and drum pads and there will be a concert for parents to enjoy in the Summer term.
Forest Schools will continue this term, we will let you know of your child’s date through text messaging.
Please endeavour to read at least 5 times per week (parent signatures each night count as one step up the reading ladder and count towards our class reading percentage each week.) Continue to read a range of genres and fill out your reading journals to earn your Silver and Gold Reading Bands. See the grid in your child’s reading diary for more information.
Please remember, to keep practising spellings and times tables. We are working towards all children knowing their times tables to 12×12 by the summer term.
