In Year 2, we are looking forward to our Castle topic in History. We are going to be doing a local History study where we learn about Tamworth and its castle before our trip to the actual site in June. Linking to castles, we are thinking about dragons in English. We are getting ready to describe and write stories about dragons, generate our own dragon facts and write non-chronological reports about the dragons we have created. We are also looking forward to reading, ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark’ in our Guided Reading sessions.
Maths for this term has started with lots of work about fractions. We are finding the fractions of shapes and fractions of amounts. We are continuing to make sure we know our x10, x2, x5 times tables. (At home, children can continue to work on their times tables using their login to ttrockstars.)
In Science, we are going to be learning about plants and looking at the conditions needed for seeds to germinate as well as planting bulbs. We will be measuring the growth of our plants.
Please can children carry on reading at home, recording this reading in the home reading diaries and practising weekly spellings (for tests on a Wednesday). We will continue to count how many times your child has read each Thursday. Thanks to parents for all your support in helping your children at home!
