Year four are ready to start our topic of Invaders and Settlers! We will be finding out about the Anglo Saxons, Scots and Vikings. So far we have learned so much about why the Roman’s left Britain and where the Anglo-Saxons came from. In geography we will have a unit on rivers.
In art, we will story telling through drawing and then moving on to exploring pattern. So far we have looked at the power of illustrations and tried to create some of our own.
Our exciting Science is all about ‘Animals including Humans’ and we will be finding out about classification including vertebrates and non-vertebrates. We will be moving on to find all about states of matter. We will be going on a school trip to the Think Tank to support this and watching a Christmas science show.
Weekly spelling lists are sent home every Wednesday and the tests are on Wednesdays too. Times tables tests will be weekly and please encourage children to use TT Rock stars at home as we have a national assessment on tables later on in the year.
Please support your child in reading at least 5 times a week (checked every Thursday). We would like all children to complete the Bronze Reading challenge award by the end of term (details to follow).
