Dear Parents/carers and students
During this unprecedented time I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your support and kindness sent to our staff through emails. Never underestimate the power of your messages in raising moral and spreading a little happiness.
We understand that this time is extremely difficult for all but we are so proud of our students who are still working hard online and through our home packs. You have truly amazed us. We are so proud of you all. We have heard that many of you are struggling to keep up with the amount of work we are setting and many families felt that a break for Easter is very much needed. I am therefore glad to say that we will be setting very little work over the holiday period across the Trust.
2020 is the year we became one (Anthony Hinks). I know many of us feel stuck at home but in reality we are not stuck…we are safe. You may be feeling sad, lonely and frustrated at not being able to see friends, family and teachers. We miss you all terribly too.
We are living through history. Use this time to be creative and give yourself time to think, live in the moment and allow yourself the joy of just being alive. ‘Everyone is a bit scared’ said the horse. But we are less scared together’ Charlie Mackesy
In years to come children will study the Coronavirus (COVID-19). They will learn that rainbows, teddy bears in windows and clapping for our NHS and key workers were signs of hope, thanks and solidarity, bringing about a change in our communities. They will read about how the skies cleared and animals reclaimed our streets. They will learn of people making the most of their one hour exercise and the beauty of an outside walk. Just in the little village I live in, I cannot believe the care and kindness I see everyday from my neighbours ensuring everyone is safe. Kindness and love is everywhere. This I hope never changes.
So enjoy the virtual kisses from families on video calls, laugh and talk to people to let them know they are loved. I am sure my youngest grandchild thinks I live in the telly and my eldest grandchild won’t sleep until he has had his bed time story read to him from 200 miles away. These moments will be treasured by all of us.
As a Trust we wish Boris Johnson and any one suffering from this virus a speedy recovery and send our deepest sympathies and love to those who have lost love ones.
So please remember that during this Easter break no matter how beautiful the weather or how much you miss your family and friends, listen to the Governments advice…stay home, stay safe and save lives.
You are in our thoughts.
Kind regards,
Sarah Findlay-Cobb
